Ms. Delzer

My name is Ms. Delzer, and I will be your 5-8 School Counselor at Central Cass! This will be my first year as a school counselor, and I couldn't be more excited to start my career as a Squirrel with all of you!

I am originally from Bismarck, North Dakota. I graduated from NDSU with my bachelors in Psychology with a minor in Human Development and Family Science. I continued at NDSU and graduated in May 2019 with my Master's Degree in School Counseling from NDSU (Go Bison!!). NDSU's program is rigorous and prepared me well to assist students and their families in grades 5-8 with the wide array of challenges they may face.

5 things to get to know me!
1. I love to read and I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, but also enjoy reading interesting non-fiction as well. I most enjoy psychological thrillers and books with legal and historical themes. I always have a list written down of books I want to read, so come see me when you don't know what to read next!
2. I adopted my black cat Bane (yes, like the guy from Batman!)  4 and a half years ago, and he's constantly living up to his name and giving me funny stories to share. I grew up with an amazing husky-german shepherd-blue healer mixed dog, however, and really love just about any animal!
3. I love to laugh and use humor whenever I can!
4. I played basketball for 10 years and ran track for 6, and grew up with the Dallas Cowboys on TV, so sports has always been a major part of my life! Despite the mediocre performance of the Cowboys in the last decade or so, I am STILL a Dallas fan through and through. I am also a huge fan of the Yankees (I know, I'm really starting to lose some people here but bear with me!), Timberwolves, and USA Men's and Women's Track and Field! I worked as an Academic Advisor for the Bison Athletic Teams during my graduate program, and have a strong belief in students athletes being students first and athletes second. I love to chat sports and I love even more to hear from my students how they are doing in their own sports!
5. I'm a huge fan of Brene Brown's research and work on shame and shame resiliency, and try to bring in as much of it as I can in my work with students. I believe strongly in being authentic, giving unconditional compassion, and living brave!

I am so excited to meet all of you! Please know that I am here to help with anything I can, so don't be shy in reaching out to me!
Go Squirrels!
