Mrs. Narum

Welcome to CCMS! The 2019-20 school year will mark my 16th year at Central Cass (2nd as MS principal), and each year seems to pass quicker than the last. According to my 6th-grade autobiography, I have always wanted to be a teacher…or an actress or a singer. By the time I started the college process, however, I was going to be an accountant or a computer programmer because that’s where the money was going to be. Acting and singing never really panned out like I thought it would, so…

I started my education track at Williston State College late last Century and later transferred to Bison Country in the year 2000.

In 2001, with looming college expenses and a strong sense of service, I joined the North Dakota Air National Guard, where I have served 18 years and counting. The opportunities I’ve been afforded as a member of the NDANG have shaped the last two decades of my life and provided countless experiences. Fun fact: They also did not have a singing/acting pathway. So…

Three years into computer science degree at North Dakota State University, I had an epiphany. A real epiphany. Teaching was calling my name, and Valley City State University had an elementary education program on NDSU campus. In 2003, I earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from VCSU.

In August of 2004, I became a Squirrel, and I have loved every minute of my time in the Central Cass School District. Over the years, I have taught 6th-grade math, English, science, social studies, computer applications, and Make a Sound Choice (which I still teach a few times a week) and have served as an instructional coach, Alternative Learning Center teacher, and middle school lead teacher. To round out my educational journey, I earned an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from NDSU in 2015 with hopes of one day becoming a school leader.

My husband, Jamie, our four children, and I live in Casselton with our dog, Mocha, and numerous pet rocks. We enjoy movie nights, popcorn, sports, car shows, and road trips!

I believe that we all have the ability to change the world. Middle school students are world changers! Each day at CCMS brings an opportunity to shape the future, and my hope for all students is that they find success on their path, enjoy the journey, and develop into kind humans with a purpose they are passionate about.

I am excited for the opportunity to work with your family this year! Please feel free to stop by, email, or call with any questions, concerns, or celebrations. It is always better when we work together!
